Spring 2009 brings Matthew Williamson at work for H&M

June 3rd, 2009

The designer confessed that the opportunity of creating a Matthew Williamson collection for Hennes&Mauritz comes as an incredible opportunity. Williamson declared to the press: I just love that H&M created a new phenomenon in fashion design. This new and bold concept of collaborating with young designers in order to create limited editions for fashion collection is a great decision. I am thrilled and I hope that H&M clients will be enchanted by my creations now that they will be available in so many parts of the world in which this fabulous brand is present.

Margareta van den Bosch, the creative consultant of Hennes&Mauritz studies Matthews work for quite a while during his previous contracts. While sharing her opinion to the press she declared: Matthew has an exceptional eye for prints, a very bold an original way of mixing and combine them in a very new and special manner. His way of creating these combinations will give to our collection a London like look so very modern. It will be a very stylish collaboration for H&M and very much into our vision concept for the new spring/summer fashion season.

The new collection signed Matthew Williamson for H&M was dew to appear in the groups shop network on April 23, 2009.

Also for this spring, the Swedish group announced a 3 % decrease in sales in March reported to the same period last year. The economical analysts state that this comparison isnt as eloquent as it may seem, considering that the same reference period coincided last year with the spring brake before the Pascal Holiday which this year fell in April.

Anders Wiklund the economical analyst from Evli Bank made the following affirmation: The H&M group is so strong “being number three in the market- that this minor decreases will not affect them very much. They have proved themselves on the market again with this new concept they adopted, they made it work and turned it into a truly considerable success. I am sure they will come out of the global crisis absolutely fine. So with the acquisition of Matthew Williamson as designer asset the public is expected to notice a fluent and bold infusion of color and trend inside H&M shops and with it a more glamorous shopping experience.

Appear slim in plus size clothes

March 14th, 2009

If you have a full figure, you should not always go for larger tent-like plus size clothing so that you could hide your supposed flaws. In fact, you should steer clear away from shapeless clothes. You may not be thin like a model but no matter your size, you sure do have some assets that you could flaunt.

Therefore, you should actually show off your assets with suitable plus size dresses that could only flatter your figure. You should really go shopping for plus size clothing that suits your figure and get the right type of outfit to showcase your assets. If you are getting a pair of plus size shorts, then always strive to get ones that suits your figure and flaunt your assets so that you could wow people in your new wardrobe.

I am sure you must be wondering what is the secret to looking slimmer in plus size clothes and plus size swimsuits. Well, there is no big secret but quite a few plus size fashion tips to follow so that you could look your best. You should never hide your figure but you should show off your best points. Read on for three main tips:

1. If you feel that you have a great upper body that you should definitely draw attention there. Get very supportive plus size bras and wear shirts or blouses that have low necklines like scoop neck and V-neck to draw attention to your cleavage. So, these tops will be able to take attention away from other spots you consider as your flaws.

2. Always wear clean lines, simple designs and stay away from garish, bright patterns - this is because clean lines and simple designs makes your body appear smoother and slender. While bright, garish designs may draw too much unnecessary attention to certain parts of your body and may make you appear shorter and bigger.

3. Stick to your correct size - if you wear smaller sizes, you will look like you are about to burst, or worse, you may just bust a seam or two. But if you wear bigger sizes, it will only serve to drown you and cover you, much like a gunny sack. If you want clothes that look perfect on you, then buy clothes that are a perfect fit.

Cheetah Print Trends

February 3rd, 2009

People are always on the lookout for new fashions, but are afraid of picking up on something after its already outdated. Its a valid concern, considering how often and how quickly trends change, but if youre willing to try something a little different, then you may want to think about the cheetah print. The cheetah print has been around for a while, coming in and out of the fashion realm, but the key to making the print work lies in using it sparingly and tastefully.

Whether youre looking to add cheetah print to your wardrobe selection, collection of accessories, or room dcor, consider what the print does visually, and make sure it fits the message youre trying to get across. Animal prints in general scream wild, fun, exotic ” theyre full of life and energy and personality. Here are some things to consider when choosing cheetah print:

- Dont mix it with other animal print clothing, and be weary of having several prints in a room. Unless youre trying to give off a zoo vibe, youre better off keeping the animal print at a minimum.

- In terms of clothing, stick with a single cheetah print piece, such as a jacket or a pair of pants, or go with a few coordinating accessories: shoes, a scarf or bag, maybe a bangle.

- Believe it or not, cheetah prints can be classy and chic. Make sure the fabrics wildness is tamed by a sophisticated style. Go for a floor-length gown with simple jewelry, or a solid colored outfit with a sleek cheetah scarf.

- Animal prints can be a fun addition to a room. Again, dont overdo it, but a cheetah print can be inspiring and invigorating in a room, and make for a vibrant environment.

- Consider that a little cheetah can go a long way. A simple scarf around your neck, a bangle on your wrist, or even more discretely, a notebook in your bag, may be all you need to make your desired statement.

Of course, you dont have to like the cheetah print all, and thats fine. Who knows ” it might even be on its way out of popular opinion by the time youre done reading this!

What Is the Best Way to Clean Designer Eyeglasses?

February 2nd, 2009

Glasses are not cheap, and when you purchase designer glasses they really cost quite a bit of money. If you are willing to spend the money on designer frames and lenses, then you likely want to know how to keep them as clean as possible. Cleaning glasses is not difficult, but if you do it incorrectly, you can damage your investment, creating scratches and ruining the finish on the frames.

Talk to Your Optometrist

The first thing you need to do in order to learn the best possible way to clean your glasses is to talk to your optometrist. If your glasses are coated in any way, you may be advised to avoid certain chemicals or types of cloth when you clean your glasses. For instance, if you have glare cutting coating on your glasses, cleaning them with a napkin or paper towel may scratch the coating. Be sure to follow all instructions given to you by your optometrist to keep your glasses in good shape.

Over the Counter Wipes

One of the most annoying things about glasses is that occasional smudge that is directly in your line of sight on your glasses. One way to be sure that you can always safely take care of this problem is carrying over the counter lens cleaning wipes. These are pretreated wipes that are safe to use on most lenses. You can simply pull out a wipe, swipe your glasses, and eliminate that smudge!

Thoroughly Cleaning Glasses

While wipes work well for touch ups, you are going to want to thoroughly clean your glasses from time to time just as you would clean discount contact lenses, especially if they have nose pads, which tend to gather dirt and grime behind them. For most pairs of glasses you can wash them with a nonabrasive soap and warm water. Make sure you use clean hands and mild detergent as you wash your glasses. However, do not use a lot of pressure on your lenses, as this could scratch them or cause them to pop out of the frames. Rinse them off, and then dry them with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Sometimes dirt will build up under the nose pads. When this happens, use a soft bristled toothbrush to get into the crevices. As much as possible, keep the bristles away from the lenses, as this can leave scratches on them.

Do not forget to clean the frames, including the earpieces, when you clean your glasses. The earpieces are in contact with your skin at all times, so they build up sweat, dirt, and oil over the years as you wear your glasses. When you thoroughly wash your glasses, make sure the earpieces get a good cleaning as well.

Always Use Something Wet

Many people will take a rag or paper towel and wipe their glasses when they are dry to get a speck of dirt or some oil off. Never do this. Always use water and soap or a glass cleaner when cleaning your glasses. Even the softest cloth can cause scratches or other marks on your glasses. Also, when you do clean your glasses, use a glasses safe cleaning cloth. The towels you use for your bath are not safe, and if you use fabric softener in your laundry, it will leave streaks on your lenses.

The Best Routine

You do not need to thoroughly clean your designer glasses every single day. You will probably find that a thorough washing once a week, followed by a daily routine of wiping them with the lens cleaning cloths when they need to be cleaned, is sufficient to keep your glasses as clean as you want them to be.

Things You Should Know About Your One Year Old

February 2nd, 2009

Parents marvel at their children from birth, and the months that follow are a time of joy and amazement as parents of babies become parents of toddlers. Children grow at an astonishing rate and are unrecognizable as the tiny babies they were by the time they reach one year old. One year olds have very different needs than infants and begin to learn the skills that will carry them into childhood.

Every child is different, but there are some common traits that most one year olds share. If you are a new parent of a toddler here are six things you should know about your one year old.

It’s ok if your child does not walk by one year. Walking is one of the most anticipated milestones, but not all babies walk by one year and this is perfectly normal. Give your child lots of encouragement and practice and they will walk in their own time.

Young babies have a hard time concentrating on anything for more than a minute or so, and many parents look forward to the time when their child will be able to play games and interact for longer periods. Most one year olds have attention spans of about five minutes if they are interested in the activity so you will be able to play one game for longer stretches.

Your one year old will probably have distinct preferences for the type of play he enjoys, and their favorite games might not be the ones you like. One year olds like to push, throw, drop, and dump things which may not be your favorite game but helps them learn about the world around them.

Toddlers thrive on routine and having clear routines for bedtime, naptime, and meal time will make these activities go smoother. Form some habits that can be repeated every day for these times and your one year old will eagerly anticipate and take part in these routines.

Most babies develop some sort of separation anxiety which can range form mild to severe around seven or eight months, and this anxiety usually heightens by one year. One year olds will often protest loudly when being left with a sitter , and it is best to allow your child to warm up to their caregiver before you leave and not prolong the leaving process.

By one year your child may have developed distinct food preferences as toddlers are notorious for being picky eaters. You may have to introduce a food ten or twenty times before your child will like and accept it.

Parents of toddlers face different challenges than those of infants, but these challenges are all part of helping your child grow and develop. Your one year old is busy learning about the world around her and the better you understand your child’s needs the better you will be able to help her grow.

Why People Wear Perfumes and Colognes

February 1st, 2009

Why do people wear perfumes and colognes? It’s no doubt that people wear them to smell good, and as a result, which is why the perfume industry continues to be a successful market. Perfumes not only make us smell great, but it makes us feel more attractive. So what are the other reasons why people wear perfumes and colognes?

There are a few different reasons why people choose to don on a scent. One, is that people love buying designer colognes and perfumes because they are a fan of the brand. Scents endorsed by celebrities are a continued success, since people want to buy things that they think they’re using, which is an effective way of marketing.

Besides using celebrities, another way that companies market their products is through their packaging. Designer perfumes bank on their name, and the striking looks of it’s bottles and the boxes it comes in. Beautiful packaging increases it’s aesthetic and economic values.

To compliment this, they use equally attractive models in their advertisements. In these ads, the models hold the bottles of cologne and perfume, making it seem like they were more beautiful after having used the product. A sure way to get consumers to buy their product.

Of course, there are those who buy the scents simply because they like the way it smells. So the buy the scent solely on the fragrance.

But the biggest reason why women buy perfume is that it makes them feel more attractive, giving a boost to their self-confidence. Men buy colognes for the exact same purpose: they buy them thinking that it will make them more attractive to women.

Isn’t it great that we have the modern advantage of having easy access to colognes and perfumes? Especially since this wasn’t the case many centuries ago, when most people had to rely on scented oils to smell fresh by masking their body odors. (That’s because most people didn’t take baths everyday. Eww.)

See, that’s just a few reasons why people love to get colognes and perfumes. And if you do find yourself smelling a little ripe, try taking a bath first. That’s cheaper.

Spruce Up Your Child’s Wardrobe with Tralala Clothing

February 1st, 2009

Mothers and little girls alike are in for a unique shopping experience with clothing that comes from California, but pulls inspiration from France.

The clothing is from Tralala. Owner, Anastasia Backstrand is originally from France. While in France, she was mesmerized by patterns and colors. Eventually she earned an education in fashion design while in Paris. By the mid 90s Backstrand left France and headed to California. That’s where she lives and designs clothing today. She began Tralala in 2003 with a vision to design high-end children’s clothing.

Playtime for kids needs to be comfortable as well as fashionable. You will have the best dressed kids on the playground. If you like the vintage French look of floral appliques and black or red toile patterns, Tralala delivers that for your kids.

It is nothing short of an understatement to say that the clothing line from Tralala is unique. The clothing is made from 100% soft-combed cotton. The clothing has not been pre-shrunk so the fashions will shrink the first time they are washed. The French children’s wear is sized for average children at every age so take that into account when choosing the appropriate size for your little darlings.

The prints on the clothing can best be described as classic or romantic. Some designs have a hint of Oriental flare with black and white fabric outlines for skirts and play sets. The company designs clothing from limited edition, one-of-a-kind prints that are exclusive to Tralala. After taking a look at the clothing you’ll agree that it is something special.

The new spring 2009 collection called Pure is an organic baby and toddler clothing line. These fashions will actually cater to both baby boys and girls. Now both genders can enjoy the luxurious, stylish, cotton fabrics that are a signature of the Tralala clothing lines.

The clothing is made from 100% bamboo cotton, mother of pearl buttons, and organic satin. The collection will include dresses, layettes, pant sets, and blankets. The goal with the line is to be more stylish and appealing than the usually bland, organic clothing available.

A portion of all sales from the Pure line will be given to the organization Kids in Distressed Situation. The organization helps kids with the pure necessities of life such as shelter, food, and clothes.

Tralala makes a habit of helping out those in need. It’s also been involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Feed the Children.

As with many retailers these days, Tralala’s high-end children clothing can be found across the country and over the internet. If you’re looking for something different for your little girl or as a gift for a child, you’ll want to check out Tralala. Although the clothing looks like expensive French fashion, it’s sure to become your child’s favorite, cozy thing to wear thanks to its down-to-earth comfort.

The Glorious Garment

February 1st, 2009

A T by any other name would smell just as sweet, dont you think? Am I obsessed, to a fault, with comfort? Have I gone off the deep end with my single-minded, heated obsession with the glorious, humble T-shirt? Perhaps. I have a problem, I can admit that. But if you grew up watching James Dean, Marlon Brando, and Monty Clift slouching about, yelling in the rain, and looking disinterested, youd have a fixed obsession with this piece of clothing.

There are a handful of iconic articles of clothing. You can count them on one had ” maybe two. Theres the Schott biker jacket, Levis jeans, Members Only windbreakers, Converse All Stars, and then ” drum roll, please ” the glorious T. Now, Im sure some of you fashionistas could expand my list ” more power to you. You could twist my arm and add Doc Martens, pea coats, and even the trusty wing tip, but my aim here is to make it very clear how much I love the simplest of garments, this under-vest, this T-shirt.

By the strictest of definitions, a T-shirt is defined as a short-sleeved, collar-less garment. Simple and succinct. Dont let the big guys fool you (read as Hanes or FTL) into thinking anything thats not a button-down Oxford qualifies as a training shirt. It doesnt. A tank top is just that ” not a T-shirt! A long-sleeved T-shirt is not a T-shirt; its a knit shirt. Or something like that. There is no such thing as a short or long or collar T! Anything longer or shorter than the classic crew neck (I will give you the V neck) is something else.

By and large, a T-shirt is made out of cotton (sometimes polyester, sometimes both) that is knitted together with a jersey stitch, which gives this godly garment its distinct, unrivaled texture. Ah, the sweet relief of sliding on a fresh clean T ” you would be hard pressed to find such a singular sensation. I dare you! It is the ultimate in comfort, despite some formalists who decry the T as some kind of symbol of the degradation of the Western world. The fall of Rome, signified by the proliferation of the lowly T-shirt. Preposterous.

Sweet T-shirt, my love, my life! These ingenious garments create what people in ad agencies call human billboards. Yes, the corporate grubs love to silkscreen their logos and slogans on finely knitted T-shirts, but lets not forget how the T can be the most powerful grass roots tool. All you need is a felt-tip pen (I suggest a Sharpie) and your Philosophy 101 book thats been collecting dust in the basement. Presto-bingo: instant slogan and social relevance. Hopefully. Cool T-shirts are whim away. Get whimsical!
