Computer 3d Animation An Art Or A Technical Skill

July 23rd, 2009

Art has always had a distinct role in the life of humans, and with time, this human self-expression has found new ways of showing itself. As rapid progress in new technology has changed our lives as a whole, it has also had its impact on art. This media of art has made a shift, by the virtue of computer technology, to something even more spectacular: 3D Computer Animation.

Computer 3D Animation is a technology that allows to build and show digital moving objects with a 3 Dimensional touch on a 2D screen. 2D animation has been around for a long time, but 3 Dimensional animation has overtaken it as the results of the later are amazingly realistic. Three Dimensional Animation is not restricted to movies, but is also used in computer games, architecture, constructing models and samples, and as a web designing and communication tool.

These wonderful works are brought to us through a process of 3D Modeling, Texturing, Animation and Three Dimensional Rendering. 3D Modeling is a process of bringing objects and scenes into the world of 3D Graphics and Animation. Once a 3 Dimensional model is finished, it goes through a texturing which add the detail that makes the objects and characters so realistic and related to our lives. It controls how things look and is just like an artist painting on a sculpture.

During the animation stage of the cartoon creation process, the ideas remain the same as have been used in the traditional version. 3D Animation is to a great extent based on two main techniques: Key-framing and Motion Capture. Key-framing, like traditional animation, is also based on the slight gradual changes to create an optical illusion of motion, by determining two or more key positions representing a unit of animation. The only difference is that the in-betweens in this case are rendered automatically and filled in by the computer. Before it was done by the animator assistant who by hand was painting all the character poses in between the key frames. That’s how all these frames were called in-betweens.

The key concept behind the Motion Capture technique is to portray the emotions, expressions and movements of a 3 Dimensional animated character as realistically as possible by recording of real actor movements, and translating them into a digital 3d model. Three Dimensional Animation usually uses a faster frame rate than the conventional animation or even your regular television broadcast, which are about 25 frames per second, in order to sustain the realism of movement and to create a dramatic impression.

Computer Animation is a stimulating and exciting career. Before you begin some serious professional work, it is always helpful to study in quality institutes that offer animation courses. You should focus on schools like Vancouver Institute of Media Arts and School of Visual Arts California, to really have a substantial foundation to your career. However, attending superficial courses will do you no good as this way you will only learn to work with different software, which is not enough to become an efficient 3D Animator.

In order to become a successful 3D animator, you need to have a good understanding of computer graphics on a basic level, such as Photoshop and Flash. You should have an understanding of Avars, or Animation Variables, which constitute the essential bone structure to 3D skeletal models, which will aid you in constructing life-like characters.

You must master the basics of composition and must have a good knowledge of how colors work. You will be constantly playing with them for the rest of your lives. You must have a good sense of shade and light, which actually sum up the basics of all visual arts. Apart from the software knowledge, it is your sense of filmmaking and story-telling which will help create a realistic animation.

How can Digital Animation be of some practical use to a web site developer, who does not have the slightest idea on how to create 3d animations? You can create animations on quite a decent level through a number of available software for this purpose. SideFX Houdini, Maya, Softimage, Lightwave 3D and Luxology Modo are some of popular 3D animation software, but these are mostly utilized by professional animators. It is a sane idea to research their features by checking their reviews out on different web sites and decide which one suits your needs better. There are other software for web designers and simple animation, such as 3D GIF Designer, Xara 3D and Effect 3D, which are much simple to use.

If you desire to use 3D animation as the content for your web page, you could settle for software with simple features and an easy and accessible user interface. 3D Animations have become an effective communication instrument of our century and can be a potential source of traffic enhancement for web developers as computer programs have brought this possibility into their access. This technology allows you to explore new horizons on whatever front it can be utilized. It is up to you to use it efficiently now.

Shopping In Beijing: Chinese Furniture

July 9th, 2009

Unique, beautiful Chinese furniture is admired by furniture lovers the world over. Developed over 4,000 years ago, Chinese furniture has evolved into a sophisticated art form over the last couple hundred years. Although its enchanting beauty attracts most, it is also praised for its excellent practical functions. Both Chinese and overseas shoppers enjoy buying Chinese furniture to beautify their homes.

[I:http://tresoryakro.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/AndyLao32.jpg]Even though archaeological evidence suggests the Chinese started making furniture items as early as the Neolithic period, classic-style Chinese furniture did not come into being until the Tang dynasty. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, furniture was perfected and became a cultured, highly sophisticated decorative art.

Chinese furniture developed through three main periods: the pre-Tang period, the Tang and Song dynasty period, and the Ming and Qing dynasty period.

Pre-Tang Period: Before the Tang dynasty, Chinese people had a tradition of sitting on woven mats, much like the Japanese tradition of sitting on a “tatami.” Furniture items in the house were normally arranged around the mat, and all furniture was simple and minimal. Wealthy people could afford furniture that was made of bronze or painted with lacquer, and these pieces often had elaborate decorations.

Tang and Song Dynasty Period: During the Tang dynasty, upper-class Chinese began to use the classic-style Chinese furniture. Paintings from that period show people sitting on high chairs instead of mats. This change is believed to be influenced by Buddhism and the lifestyle of the nomadic tribes living in northern China. In the Song dynasty, both ordinary people and social elites accepted this change and started to use this new style of furniture in their homes.

Ming and Qing Dynasty Period: The development of Chinese furniture reached its zenith during this period. The refinement of decorative patterns and the advancements in furniture-making techniques enabled Chinese furniture to reach an unforeseen level of beauty and sophistication. The old designs were discarded, replaced, or thoroughly improved, and a variety of new designs was invented.

The furniture made in these two dynasties was drastically different in design and taste, though similar in general style and construction. Ming dynasty furniture had a more elegant form, focused on the purity of design, and was favored by the scholarly class. Qing dynasty furniture, on the other hand, focused on the beauty of decorations, preferred complexity to simplicity, and tended to have an overly extravagant design. Now most antique shops in Beijing sell antique furniture items from this period.

Chinese furniture is generally priced for its material and craftsmanship. Years of experience is usually required for anyone to become an expert in judging the quality of any furniture piece.

Because most Chinese furniture items are made of wood, the value of wood almost completely determines the value of a piece of furniture. Furniture made of rare, precious wood sometimes can sell for millions of dollars. Chinese furniture dealers have their own saying when it comes to ranking the quality of different types of wood: “One yellow, two black, three red, and four white.”

“One yellow” refers to Huanghuali, or Yellow Pear, wood. This precious and rare wood is the number one choice for furniture lovers.

“Two black” means Zitan wood, or Purple Incense wood, the second most revered kind of Chinese furniture.

“Three red” refers to redwood, the most well-known, popular type of wood among Chinese furniture fans. The four main types of redwood are: old redwood, Chicken’s Wing wood, Tieli wood, and Huali wood.

“Four white” means white wood. There are many types of white wood that are commonly used, including Nanmu wood, beech tree wood, camphorwood, and pine.

[I:http://tresoryakro.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/AndyLao33.jpg]While it might only require book knowledge to judge the quality of wood, it requires experience and a deep understanding of Chinese culture to judge the craftsmanship of a piece of Chinese furniture. Profound concepts like the unity of man and heaven, the peace between man and nature, and the inner and outer beauty of things are all integrated in great pieces of Chinese furniture. A trained expert examining the craftsmanship of any piece can know not only the technical skill of the person who made it, but the meaning of the design.

In many of Beijing’s local shops, there are beautiful, unique Chinese furniture items for sale. When you are in Beijing, make sure to pay a visit to one of those shops. You won’t regret the experience. Find a personal shopper if you don’t know how to get to these shops or identify quality items.

June 29th, 2009

Becky knows of her lack of knowledge in managing personal finance, yet she is reluctant to take any appropriate measure. To keep up with her habits, she starts accepting offers from other credit card companies and starts spending wisely. Instead of buying whatever she likes, she invested, with great care, on expensive birthday gifts for her friends in advance.

An intense shopaholic habit now starts affecting Beckys professional life. Her route to a press conference deflects to a shop displaying a bargain sign. She chooses a scarf but since she left her card at the office, requests the shop owner to reserve it for her. She promises to pick it up at the end of day. Becky manages doing so, after creating some mid-sized blunders at the press conference. Now, she is to meet the biggest heartbreak of her life and despite repeated requests from the manager of the bank she holds an account with, to correct her financial status, she goes for a bizarre roller coaster ride towards solving her credit problems.

While Becky is still wondering what shes doing in a financial magazine instead of writing for a fashion mag from the same publication, she finds that shes also learnt quite a few tricks of the trade in the process. While it looks like a circle of events, shes already giving out financial advice to people on how to save and other issues like debts, debt consolidation, etc! Its hard to forget that her credit card score is unbelievably low, so Derek Smeath, the banks debt collector is hot on her trail to reclaim the money. On the other front, Becky is swept away by the charms and intelligence of her entrepreneur boss, Luke Brandon. Oh, and hes very, very rich. You cant learn anything about finance watching this movie, but you could learn a thing or two about what makes movies so unbelievably different from reality. Or how to get into a crazy debt.

This is a story that shall inspire awe in a viewer. To get hold of a copy of the movie, log on to the Internet and get it downloaded from the websites. Video Games From The Past

June 25th, 2009

Once upon a time, things were simple. Enemies were easily identified. Weapons were simple. Yes, the games of our youth only required primary colors and a joystick, but technology has forged ahead.

However, those games are not gone. Fans on the internet have invented both Emulators and Remakes to keep the faith alive. Emulators are the easiest, acting as a link between the old gaming machine and the modern computer.

Many old favorites, including the Commodore 64, NES, Master System, Amiga, and Arcade machines, have already been Emulated. A simple internet search will lead to sites where these programs can be easily downloaded, often for free.

Emulations have been around for a while. They have been flying just below the radar for a while now. Bleem! brought the idea into the news. It could emulate the original Sony Playstation while the Playstation held a large marketshare.

After the Bleem, Bleemcast came along. There was completion between the video games. Sony wanted to have its emulators put down. Many people still use emulators today.

It’s rather easy to find and download these kind of emulators. All you have to do is search for a system and then type emulator on a search engine, and you should be able to find one without any problems. Most of them are quite accessible and user friendly.

To get around the legal issues raised by Sony, newer systems may require a BIOS image as well. This can also be found on the internet. You just need to find one that matches the BIOS you have.

You may find that these new systems are too complex for your to use, which is stopping you from having any fun, you can just get the emulation. Enjoy the simulation by going back to old systems when things where easy.

What Bits And Pieces Are You Likely To Need To Begin Drawing Landscape Paintings?…

June 12th, 2009

Wherever do I begin? What am I going to want to get on track? A lot of this actually is down to personal choice and how much you really would like to pay out. I completely emphasize that your essential requirements do not need to be dear. For that reason I am just writing this like a general guide to help you.

Firstly assist yourself by choosing a position to sketch with room for your kit, a necessity too, is a good light to draw by. I myself consider that you cannot do better than natural light, but this is not at all times on the cards and we have got to resort to ready lit spots. The next object you have need of is a palette to work with, and it may possibly even be a sheet of glass.

Importantly enough, you require a comparatively solid box or container of some type to contain your paints and for them to be simply available. Plus a ready assortment of colours, medium, your actual canvas and of course various brushes.

A good choice of pencils to draw on is an eminent issue. Personally I would recommend using HB range up to 6B. Then you need to just acquire somewhere solid to set your canvas on top of, such as a desk, table, or else something similar.

You will learn that a soft 6B pencil works in a good way if you want to generate dark shades, nevertheless furthermore lighter tones. Only setback being that a soft pencil wants re-sharpening a few times! Accordingly make certain that you possess a pocketknife or razorblade to hand.

Should you make a mess of your drawing, don’t despair. You could try rubbing it out, but later choose to start again. From time to time this works better for you.

We frequently like to rough draft then and there. This being so, it is so simple to keep the smaller versions of sketch pads. Not only do they come with smooth perforated paper and a hard back but they are ready to tear out.

Pens themselves can be tricky to use seeing that, for example, a biro pen would not obtain suitable thin or thick lines or manufacture satisfactory difference of shading.

Inside your standard art superstore you will uncover a wealth of pens from fountain pens, pens along with a felt tip and other nibs which can apply inks.

Let’s assume you are outdoors for the day. This can be a very uncomfortable experience if you are not dressed for the weather conditions. You need some type of warming drink plus decent warm shoes, socks and outfits you are comfy in including pockets.

It additionally helps if you cart for instance your own stool seeing that there is improbable to be anything warm to park yourself on for any amount of time. Being transportable they are a very useful item. In conclusion not a must, although it can be a benefit to possess a portable cardboard border to enclose your composition . If you do landscape paintings it grants you heaps of freedom to generate your own expressionism, and add glorious natural colours to your work.
