Table lamps are great for making a bedroom more intimate. Pastel colors like pink and yellow are ideal for lamp shades. They will produce soft lights to create a more relaxing and romantic feel to the room.

The mood of your rooms can be changed with the use of colors. Yellow in a cheerful color and can be created by use of colored bulbs and shades. For an intense active atmosphere a red light can be utilized, blue light will give the opposite impression of calmness and relaxation. A green light will remind people of nature and harmony and make them feel good.

The lighting you put in your rooms will also depend on what the room will be used for. The room where you keep your computer and office will need a brighter illumination and more task lighting, whereas a family room will need softer lighting with a more relaxed atmosphere. You can make use of dimmers so that you can make less light when you want to watch TV.

The furniture and decor of your rooms will also determine what lighting you will have. You may want to use accent lighting to bring out certain attributes of the room. LED light bars are useful for this purpose. You can use colored lights for better effect. Track lighting can also be used for this type of illumination.
