Realizable Luxury with Tiffany Gifts and Jewelry

July 4th, 2009

Tiffany & Co. was founded upon the desire to provide exorbitant goods to those seeking quality and luxury, and Tiffany has done just that. It has a line of products to include beautiful jewelry, diamonds, silver gifts and house wares among other quality goods appealing to customers as the company has since its inception.

John Young and Charles Lewis Tiffany (known as the King of Diamonds) founded Tiffany & Young in 1837 and later changed to Tiffany & Co. when Charles Tiffany took over. The company originally opened as a stationary and fancy good emporium in New York City but now offers a wide array of quality goods including its popular Tiffany jewelry.

The silver jewelry pieces from this early time period are beyond beautiful as they are timeless in artisanship. In fact, vintage jewelry remains popular among consumers. You can still find many antique pieces in the original light blue boxes, and this light blue color remains the packaging choice for the company.

Items that could be purchased at Tiffany & Co. during this earlier era include silver jewelry, silver cups and saucers, monogrammed dresser sets, presentation bowls, games, silver trays for calling cards and men’s dressing sets. The souvenir spoons made by Tiffany & Co. and other manufacturers were very popular during the late 1800s.

The art jewelry section of Tiffany & Co. was created in 1902 for the original purpose of displaying the jewelry and enamel art of Louis Comfort Tiffany, a son of Charles Tiffany. It is Louis Tiffany who created some of the famous Tiffany products, including the stained glass lamp shades, which portray the artisanship and design for which Tiffany & Co. is refuted.

Tiffany & Co. moved to Manhattan on Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in 1940 where it still stands today. The name Tiffany & Co. has become known for its realizable elegance and luxury in its fine goods whether it is diamonds, jewelry or many other gifts and fine Tiffany goods.

From its inception to its now established reputation for quality, extravagant goods, Tiffany & Co. continues to present the most exorbitant jewelry and goods that consumers expect from Tiffany products. With its innovative yet classic jewelry designs to the fine silver items, there is certainly the right gift for the special person in your life.

With such a wide selection of jewelry and other elegant goods, shopping for holidays and special occasions should no longer be such a challenge with the ability to find and purchase Tiffany products either in one of its stores or online.

Tips to Improve your Home with Lighting

July 4th, 2009

There are many means by which light fixtures can be used to make your home look better. You can choose from a wide selection of fixtures, as new ones are being introduced on a daily basis. If you go to a one of the big stores you will find a better selection. Added to this is the fact that these types of stores can often give you useful advice about the fixtures you want to buy. You can make your home come alive in many ways with lighting fixtures.

There are a number of different types of lighting to improve a low or high ceiling. To make a low ceiling have an illusion of looking higher uses floor and wall lights. Light will be reflected off the ceiling when the light is pointed upwards. Track lighting should be placed high on the ceiling to achieve this effect. Additionally you should direct the lamps on the track lighting so that they are facing upward. Torch lights also create this type of lighting.

Using different lighting effects you can make a high ceiling appear lower. Wall fixtures should be placed lower and pendent lighting can have shades on the lamps, this will prevent light from bouncing off the ceiling. A nice warm mood will be produced in a room with this type of softer lighting.

Mirrors can be used to enlarge a room, by reflecting light. To make walls look further apart, just light up opposite ones. Art work lit up at the end of a hallway can make a narrow, long hallway look better. To make this truly effective keep the other walls less well lit, attention will be drawn to the end wall.

Table lamps are great for making a bedroom more intimate. Pastel colors like pink and yellow are ideal for lamp shades. They will produce soft lights to create a more relaxing and romantic feel to the room.

The mood of your rooms can be changed with the use of colors. Yellow in a cheerful color and can be created by use of colored bulbs and shades. For an intense active atmosphere a red light can be utilized, blue light will give the opposite impression of calmness and relaxation. A green light will remind people of nature and harmony and make them feel good.

The lighting you put in your rooms will also depend on what the room will be used for. The room where you keep your computer and office will need a brighter illumination and more task lighting, whereas a family room will need softer lighting with a more relaxed atmosphere. You can make use of dimmers so that you can make less light when you want to watch TV.

The furniture and decor of your rooms will also determine what lighting you will have. You may want to use accent lighting to bring out certain attributes of the room. LED light bars are useful for this purpose. You can use colored lights for better effect. Track lighting can also be used for this type of illumination.

Civil Records - National Criminal Background Check

July 4th, 2009

Most people say that national criminal background checks are difficult to conduct. Probably one of the reasons is that there are different types of criminal records: federal, state, and local. Criminal records can also be categorized into arrest records, criminal court records, corrections records, and state criminal records. So with all these different kinds of criminal records one needs to review, why still conduct a national criminal background check?

Conducting a national criminal background check is a great way to help you track the activities of a suspected criminal. If there is someone you think is engaged in criminal activities, national criminal checks can help a lot in confirming or correcting your suspicion.

National criminal background checks also help you rule out the possibility of having a criminal in your house. Sometimes, there are felons who pretend to be house workers - carpenters, housekeepers, babysitters and the like. You would not want to place your house or your family member under the care of a person who has a criminal record, would you? Having a person subjected to a national criminal background check before accepting him in your house would surely be helpful.

In the same manner, business owners conduct national criminal background checks on potential employees to safeguard their business against people who were subjects of criminal investigations or litigations. It can be unpleasant to have someone who has a criminal record work for you. Not that it is discrimination; it is just one way of keeping the workplace safe as you never know when a person’s criminal instinct strikes.

Households and businesses are not the only ones that need to be kept safe against criminals. National criminal background checks also help in safeguarding your personal life. If you think that a certain individual is stalking you or you simply do not like the idea of being followed wherever you go, it would be to your advantage to have that person to be the subject of a national criminal background check. You can never be so sure if that person following you is an obsessed admirer or a sneaky felon.

Organizational Management Guide : Managing Organizational Change

July 4th, 2009

In this installment of our guide to organizational management we look at managing change…

Successful organizations will be required at some point in their development to effect change. Changes can result from operational strategy makeovers, when adding or removing major units of practice, or even when the underlying mission statement of a company undergoes a transformation.

It’s not something that can be ignored, indeed those organizations that try to do that inevitably fail. Yet, it needn’t be complicated, following a few simple principles will go a long way to successfully managing changes in an organization.

That’s the way we’ve always done it. How many times is that sentiment heard during a time of change? Sometimes people are adverse to change because it means taking the time and making the effort to learn something new. So, those companies that realize change starts with its workers are more likely to have success in implementing change. The best-written policies in the world are of no consequence if your workers won’t use them.

There should be a constant emphasizing of not just what is changing, but also why it is changing and, most importantly, what the benefits of changing it are. People are always acutely aware of what they’re losing, but often they don’t have a clear picture of what positives to expect in its place. Regardless of how good a strategy for change has been drawn up, if the people who it ultimately affects don’t buy into the reason for change, it won’t be successful.

Open and honest communication is a company’s best plan when attempting to effect organizational change. Staff needs to have pertinent information and the ability to provide feedback on the proposed change. All the speeches, newsletters, corporate videos, values statements and such in the world cannot engage the employees of a company the way that allowing them a part to play in the process can.

The Garden Wedding Is Perfect For The Summer Months

July 4th, 2009

Traditions regarding weddings have changed quite dramatically in the 21st Century and as the summer months, namely May to August is the wedding season, it makes sense to have a garden wedding. Conventional wedding venues are falling by the wayside as couples opt to get married in their parents’ gardens, national parks, beaches, vineyards and even the zoo.

The summer season is ideal for out of doors weddings. Long lazy afternoons and stunning sunsets make the perfect backdrop for being married. Although sunsets cannot be ordered at will, if you are one of the lucky ones, you might just experience one at your wedding. Exchanging vows in the fresh air makes for something completely different.

Organizing a garden wedding means you are able to keep things simple. Fresh cut flowers such as sunflowers make for striking centerpieces, and fresh fruit and even vegetables may be used in your flower arrangements. One very good summery idea is to fill glass vases or bowls with bright yellow lemons and make use of gingham tablecloths. To light the garden you can use candles, or even string up lanterns.

A summer wedding out of doors is both simple and elegant at the same time. Flowers are blooming and it is hardly even necessary to purchase flowers for decoration if your garden setting is in full bloom. One very important consideration however is the weather. A plan “B” is always necessary in the event of bad weather, so ensure that the garden you choose has gazebos for shelter or is large enough to erect a wedding marquee.

Nature also has a way of creeping up on you if you are planning an outdoor wedding. So you have to take into consideration the fact that you may have a problem with flies, bees, gnats or mosquitoes. These can simply be kept under control by the use of citronella candles. They will add to the mood, they smell good and keep insects under control. Citronella incense sticks can also be used and these are available specifically for use in a garden setting. Citronella is a natural way to control insects and it actually works very well.

A summer wedding in a garden, in the evening is delightful, there are no strict dress rules for your guests, however the trick is to dress elegantly without being too casual. The bride’s dress should never be longer than ankle length as this may be difficult to manage in a garden setting. Trains are not a good idea either as they may become soiled or even worse, torn. Leave the beads and sequins at home and dress simply.

Summer is a time of heat and in many areas also humidity. This allows brides to wear a sleeveless dress and hair should probably be professionally dressed in an up style. This will ensure that it stays in place, the style looks elegant and will ensure that the bride is confident. The last thing a bride wants to do is fight with her hair because of hot humid weather.

This also goes for the bridal gown too, the hot weather means that the a traditional wedding dress does not have a place and the dress should not be too bulky. Use of light summer fabrics is recommended, and silk, organdy, chiffon, crepe and georgette are recommended.

Using Computers for Business Automation

July 4th, 2009

It was hard to imagine how my parents used to run our family owned business without computers 20 years ago. I can remember coming into to the office, to visit my father, and seeing the back office stacked with papers. I can remember how, if the staff were not careful, orders would go missing.

That was always his biggest complaint. Now that we use computers for business we do not run into the same situations. Nowadays, our biggest complaint is that we are not open late enough to handle all the orders that come in during the day.

In today’s economy, we had to come up with a way to cut cost. We did not want to lay people off. We are a small company and are more like a family. In order to cut cost, we decided to go completely paperless. Using our computers for business automation was the smartest way to convert our processes from paper to electronic.

After hearing him complain for years, after graduating from college, I made it my goal to help eliminate this problem. Upon entering the family business, I noticed that most employees were not using their computers for business; instead they were just being used if needed. I was able to create a few basic programs that enabled the front office, the warehouse and sales staff to use their computer for business.

I basically brought the company into the 21st century. They were now able to enter all orders directly into their computer. This would automatically create a log where you could than track any order.

You will select the size of the lamp depending on what you need it for and where it will be positioned. For instance a table lamp should be able to fit onto your desk or table. You will need to be sure that it is the right size and does not crowd out other items, but it should also be big enough to give you adequate illumination to work with. .
